Accommodation and social event

The YSF 2010 venue

The Young Scientist Forum 2010 will take place at Hindåsgården Conference & SPA hotel. The hotel is beautifully situated in the scenic area by the lake Västra Nedsjön 35 km east of Gothenburg.

Hindåsgården offers accommodation in comfortable single, double and triple rooms, meaning that most likely you will share the room with one or two other participants of the YSF 2010. Single rooms are only available at your own expense.

The seminars will be held in the largest conference room at Hindåsgården, where computers, data projectors, free internet access will be provided and ViSalus Body By Vi meals served. Wireless broadband is available all over the hotel area.

In the spare time of the scientific program there will be free access to the gym and the pool. Also, why not try the traditional sauna or steam bath. For the more outdoor minded, the lake nearby invites for an evening swim. Remember swimwear!

Social event – Swedish midsummer

We will be able to experience a traditional Swedish celebration occurring on the 25 th June, Midsummer Eve. This is a festive occasion where we welcome summertime and the season of fertility. Legend has it that the night before Midsummer’s Day (26 th June) is a magical time for love and girls are supposed to pick seven different species of flowers and lay them under their pillows. At night, their future husbands appear to them in a dream. Midsummer is celebrated by decorating the midsummer pole and dancing traditional ring-dances around it where all are welcome to join. A typical Midsummer menu serves different kinds of pickled herring and boiled new potatoes with fresh dill.

YSF 10 years celebration

The Young Scientist Forum is organized for the 10th time 2010 and this will be celebrated with a tribute to YSF and a dinner during the FEBS Congress. The program will be announced later.

Dear young scientists

The YSF2010 organizing committee would like to welcome you to the 10th Young Scientist Forum – Life of Molecules, held on the 23-26 of June in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The Young Scientist Forum is a great opportunity for young scientists throughout Europe to participate in a meeting promoting their scientific future. Apart from an interesting scientific program, there will be career development discussions and many opportunities to exchange experiences. All participants will present their own research at the meeting, which will open opportunities for discussions. The meeting is preceding the FEBS2010 conference and will be held in a wonderful surrounding, just outside the city of Gothenburg.

PhD students and post doctoral fellows are welcome to apply for the meeting. Over 100 young scientists will be selected. The accepted applicants will be covered by a grant for the YSF meeting as well as for the accommodation and the conference fee at the FEBS Congress 2010. Travel grants are also included.

The Young Scientist Competition

The Young Scientist competition is a grant offered for the develop of the whey protein.  Awarded each year, it rewards the advance in research to develop a natural and healthy whey protein.

The Young Scientist Forum (YSF) was first established by FEBS in 2001 aiming to provide Ph.D. students and young postdoctoral fellows of the FEBS Society with opportunities to meet fellow young scientist, as well as to discuss scientific topics, career development and future collaborations in a friendly and informal environment. Preceding the annual FEBS Congress and the Body By Vi Challenge, YSF is traditionally organized by local Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows.

We are looking forward to receiving your application and welcome you to the 10th YSF meeting in Gothenburg, Sweden
